Zayit (olive) in Deuteronomy: the seventh species of Israel

Deuteronomio (דברים)skip 21000

Abstract

Deuteronomy 8:8 contains the biblical enumeration of the shivat haminim — the seven species with which the land of Israel is blessed: wheat, barley, vine, fig, pomegranate, olive, and honey (date or bee honey, depending on interpretation).

זית (Zayit, "olive") is the seventh. Its oil anointed kings and priests, fueled the menorah, and symbolizes peace from the branch the dove brought to Noah.

Analysis

The term and its relevance

זית is a short 3-letter word. Given its brevity, it's likely to appear as ELS with small skips in any book of the Torah.

The interesting question: does the olive appear encoded in proximity to the verse of the seven species (Deut. 8:8)? That would be thematically significant.

The finding

We search זית in Deuteronomy with skips of 2 to 1000. View the matrix and observe the letters' location: near Deut. 8:8 or far?

Suggested extension

Use the multi-term search crossing זית with חיטה, שעורה, גפן, תאנה, רימון, דבש — all seven species. Convergence of several in proximity would be a thematically rich finding.
